The Circle's Beth Dunlavey and Jack Quirk have defended Tim Wilson after a recent backlash from viewers.

During a recent discussion about politics on the show, Tim admitted that he "adored" former Conservative Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, something that has "disappointed" fans.

Beth and Jack, who have joined forces in the game after the public voted them back to play together as 'Joyce', spoke exclusively to Digital Spy about the player, with Jack saying he thinks Tim showed real "courage" by opening up about his views.

"At first I thought, 'Is he too good to be true?' and then very quickly I realised, 'Nah he's just amazing'," Beth told us.

"Well travelled, very cultured... Then when me and Jack teamed up as Joyce, we both had the same view on Tim. He's amazing, somebody we wanted to chat to and get on side with Joyce.

"I love Tim and I think, regardless of his opinions on Thatcher, he's just an amazing guy and somebody that I would love to get to know more when he gets out."

Jack added: "It must take a little bit of courage for him to put himself out on a limb and do that. To be honest, we didn't really have an opinion [on Thatcher] we just thought 'Joyce would have an opinion, let's go with it'.

"I think Tim's been one of our favourites from the get-go."

Beth added: "He's a very consistent guy. I think he translates amazing from talking to Tim in there, and then viewing Tim, he is exactly the same."

The Circle continues tonight (October 15) at 10.15pm at Channel 4.
