Exclusive: Gay Romance & Sweet Harmonies Bloom In ‘Glitter & Doom’
If you’ve ever thought your love story felt just like a love song, then Glitter & Doom will speak — or rather sing — to you.
This sweet gay romance from director Tom Gustafson and screenwriter Cory Krueckeberg is making its U.S. Premiere at the 47th Frameline Film Festival and follows the story of two unlikely lovers — Serious musician Doom (Alan Cammish) and free-spirited circus kid Glitter (Filipino musical superstar Alex Diaz) — who, after falling in love at first sight, are faced with the question of whether their love is really meant to last. In their case, they have exactly 29 days to find out.
The two embark on a summer romance full of romantic camping trips, late-night conversations, and plenty of song and dance. It’s all a dream come true. Things get tricky, however, when both Doom and Glitter’s mothers (Ming-Na Wen and Missi Pyle) enter the picture and put their respective sons’ love to the test. Add to that the pressure of trying to make it in the music biz, and you have a recipe for disaster — or a truly epic love story.
This unique, surreal, and yes, glittery romance is also set to the hits of the iconic, Grammy Award-winning Indigo Girls — who also make an appearance in the film. Also rounding out the cast is a bevy of queer faves including Lea DeLaria, Tig Notaro, Kate Pierson of The B-52s, Drag Race alum Peppermint, and Broadway star Beth Malone.
