Exclusive luxury: Serenité Private Residence Club comes to Poconos

A new development is underway in the Pocono Mountains. Atop 125 acres on the north ridge of Camelback Mountain will sit Serenité Private Residence Club.

It is a members-only club that combines luxury amenities and the services of a boutique resort with all the modern comforts and furnishings of home-away-from-home residences.

"Serenité is a private residence for members in the tri-state area, or anywhere, that might be looking for a permanent residence in the Poconos," said Todd Cannon, Serenité CEO. "So we've created a really unique alternative for most of our members that look to get away maybe three to four times a year or long weekends, where they can have their own place in the mountains without any upkeep or maintenance of the facility. They have their own private escape without any of the headaches."

Cannon said Serenité can be best described as a country club in that members purchase a membership interest that gives them the right to come up and stay any time. The membership offers flexibility to stay in anything from a one-bedroom to a five-bedroom depending on the needs of the member on any given trip.

“We’re excited to have created a new way to experience vacation luxury in the Pocono Mountains,” Cannon said. “Serenité is perfect for families and friends who have been searching for a luxurious mountain escape — all within a quick drive. We know our members have busy lives with time constraints, so our concentration on service and concierge makes every aspect of their getaways effortless and easy.”

The Serenité development is directly across the street from Camelback, offering all the breathtaking views of the Delaware Water Gap and Camelback Mountain's ski trails. Concierge service will pick up and escort members to Camelback Mountain.

According to Cannon, the pool is nearly complete and the clubhouse spa is estimated to be done by the end of the year. The clubhouse spa features a rooftop bar that sits on top of the mountain at the highest point in the development, offering a 360-degree view including the Delaware Water Gap and Camelback Mountain.

The pool is more than 4,000 square feet with detached lap lanes and heated for all four seasons. The area includes an oversized hot tub, granite fire table and the swim deck. "We're gonna have a Great Lawn for next summer, which gives us a chance to do member events and activities," said Cannon. "Right now what we do on a Saturday night is bring in acoustic music from local artists. By next year we'll have this big Great Lawn, which is about the size of a football field, where we'll have opportunities to do movie nights under the stars. We get members that have young kids and we want to get them out on the Great Lawn doing more old school or wholesome type activities. It's meant to really just offer all like the luxuries of modern day stuff, but a truly authentic kind of club experience."

It is a members-only club for individuals with their families or guests. The pricing options are roughly between $65,000 to $160,000 for the membership initiation fee. The range in price is dictated by how often a member would want to come and use it. There would also be annual club dues that range between $1,500 and $4,500.

"We currently have over 300 members," Cannon said. "Over half of these members are from Long Island, New York and many also coming from New Jersey and the suburbs of Philadelphia. It's growing."

"From our choice in architectural team, spa consultants, and design team, we really tried to be the benchmark of luxury accommodations in the area," Cannon said. "Our mission statement is 'where families gather and traditions are born.' And like my parents coming to the Poconos back in the day … we just want people getting those authentic mountain experiences, whether it be skiing, snowboarding, exploring the fall foliage or hiking this beautiful 2½-mile trail we have. This trail was an old railroad line in the late 1800s called the Turkey Wilderness Trail. The beauty and views are endless."
