Neighbours spoilers follow.

Neighbours star Charlotte Chimes has opened up about her character Nicolette Stone's shock ultimatum for David Tanaka and Aaron Brennan.

In scenes set to air in the UK this week, Nicolette – who's carrying David and Aaron's baby – will be seen settling back in to Number 24 after being caught up in Brent Colefax's botched robbery plan.

While Chloe and Jane are there to look after her, she's irritated by David and Aaron's absence and winds up telling the expectant fathers to choose between their unborn little one, and their adopted son Emmett Donaldson (Ezra Justin) and his brother, Brent (Texas Watterston).

"She's a protective soon-to-be first-time mum and there is probably a level of frustration that Aaron and David don't take on board her feelings.

"It's not about Emmett and Brent as such, they have both been through a lot being in the foster system, but the well-being of a new baby has to come first," Chimes explained exclusively to Digital Spy, before adding that Nicolette's seemingly hard stance has already sparked debate among Australian viewers.

"Some people have very opposing views. I love that people get so angry and want to discuss Nicolette's choices," she added. "Television is about creating emotional reactions, you would worry if no one was talking about it!"

"I think [Nicolette] would like to see Emmett settled somewhere and his mum has put a lot of effort into changing her lifestyle," continued Chimes. "They both deserve a new start."

Nicolette's order is set to cause tension between herself and new girlfriend Chloe (April Rose Pengily) too, seeing as Aaron is the latter's brother.

"Her loyalties will always be torn I think – she just wants everyone to get along," Chimes noted.

Neighbours airs these scenes on Tuesday, May 18, Wednesday, May 19 and Thursday, May 20 at 1.45pm and 5.30pm on Channel 5.
