Exclusive: Neighbours star Rebekah Elmaloglou on Terese, Nell and Hugo drama

Neighbours star Rebekah Elmaloglou has hinted that her character Terese Willis will face drama as a new stepmum.

Terese is now adjusting to a brand new family set-up after tying the knot with Toadie Rebecchi, who's a dad to Nell and Hugo.

Earlier this week, viewers saw Nell assure Toadie that she was fully supportive of his new relationship.

However, in a chat with Digital Spy, Rebekah suggested that Terese may have her work cut out with Nell and Hugo in future episodes.

Asked about Terese's relationship with the kids, Rebekah confirmed: "That doesn't run smoothly at all."

She continued: "The actors are amazing and beautiful. But basically Terese has now got a household full of kids – young kids at that. She was always such a great ambitious career woman, but she always had that nice family side to her.

"She loves Toadie so she's going to embrace the kids. But there'll be issues, no doubt."

Nell and Hugo have both been recast for the new season, which takes place two years after the events of the "final ever" episode in July 2022.

Scarlett Anderson played the original version of Nell from the character's birth in 2013, right up until the July 2022 finale episode.

Meanwhile, John Turner appeared as Hugo between 2018 and 2022.

In the new-look Neighbours, Ayisha Salem-Towner has taken over the role of Nell, while Tanner Ellis-Anderson has been cast as Hugo.

Announcing the changeover earlier this month, Neighbours bosses said: "With new episodes of Neighbours jumping two years ahead, our Nelly and Hugo have grown up too.

"Introducing the wonderful Ayisha Salem-Towner and Tanner Ellis-Anderson, who we know you will fall in love with."
