Neighbours star Stefan Dennis has teased Robert Robinson's dramatic return, with David Tanaka's life in the balance.

David needs a kidney transplant in the aftermath of a hit-and-run accident, which leads to Harlow and Roxy visiting Paul's killer son Robert in prison. The pair ask Robert (played by Adam Hunter) to consider being tested to see if he's a match.

"Even though Robert could possibly be David's saviour, Paul is still really grappling with and trying to come to terms with the fact that it's Robert," Stefan says in an interview with Digital Spy.

"As far as Paul is concerned, he's dead. He's been trying to forget about him for forever, and this really brings up an awful lot of old demons."

Paul is initially "absolutely furious" that Harlow and Roxy have contacted Robert. But he is eventually persuaded to meet with him, where Robert lists his demands for helping David.

"They're actually quite simple demands – but in the [context] of a maximum security psychiatric prisoner, they're pretty big demands," Stefan explains. "Robert wants to be able to be outside more. He wants to have a window. Things like that.

"Paul gets to the point where he would do anything to save his son David. But will he back that up or not?"

Stefan adds that there's no love lost between Paul and Robert when they come face to face with each other.

"Paul's just hard and cold," he says. "He's there under absolute duress. He doesn't want to be there for a second. He doesn't want to see his son Robert for even a split second. He's there purely for his son David.

"And Robert is pretty much the same. He doesn't want to see his father, either... There's no love. It's a hate-hate relationship on both sides."
