Netflix's Castlevania star Jessica Brown Findlay has offered an exclusive update on season 4 to Digital Spy.

The streaming giant ordered more of the animated series based on Konami's video games back in March, just two weeks after the third season premiered.

Unfortunately, the renewal came at the same time as work stoppages were hitting the industry due to COVID-19, so it sounds as if Castlevania is currently in a holding pattern.

Lenore actress Findlay recently shared with us that she's heard nothing about going back to work on the fourth season.

When asked about the status of season 4 following the official confirmation of the new season, and any plans for her character, or the story, she said: "Oooh, is it? I haven't heard anything, so I'm not sure.

"Right now life for me feels very far away from work. Yeah, I have no idea. That would be great, but I accept, yes, please now."

Since then Samuel Deats, director of Castlevania, has confirmed: "We're well in to S4 production and everything's going smoothly!"

It was recently reported that Netflix could move away from current showrunner Warren Ellis following the completion of the fourth season.

Ellis had spoken about how the story he'd been building since the beginning of Castlevania would come full circle in the next string of episodes.

"Everything in season three gets launched into the air. I have to bring it all down in season four," he said.

"Again, it might be one of those things where I just sit here and assume I won't get a season five, so I will need to bring it to at least a partial conclusion.

"But the things I've got in the air can't stay in the air for another season. I will have to assemble everything more carefully than I am otherwise used to, and I've got to bring it all in for a big landing."

Jessica Brown Findlay's latest show Brave New World airs on Sky One with all episodes available on the Sky Go app and NOW TV.
