Exclusive: Yellowjackets Melanie Lynskey breaks down Jeff and Shauna’s relationship

Yellowjackets star Melanie Lynskey has broken down the relationship between her character Shauna and husband Jeff in season two.
Season one of the Showtime drama ended with Shauna murdering Adam, a man who she was having an affair with. The murder led to Shauna confessing all about the affair to Jeff after she discovered Jeff, rather than Adam, was the blackmailer.
Now in season two, the couple are struggling with the aftermath of both the murder and Shauna's affair.

Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy, Lynskey said that she "hopes" Jeff is enough for Shauna, before explaining that his blackmailing might have changed her perception of him.
"I do think that she’s kind of impressed by his abilities," Lynskey said. "I think now she’s kind of like, 'OK, I didn’t know you were the kind of guy who would blackmail people.'
"And it’s not necessarily so great that her friends got blackmailed, but I think there is a part of her that’s like: 'Respect. I appreciate that.' They’re meeting each other on a different level."

The show's executive producer Jonathan Lisco previously told Empire that season two would really explore "female rage", and Lynskey's character has recently been putting herself in some very dangerous and emotionally-driven situations.
Speaking about where Shauna's anger comes from, Lynskey said: "I think just being somebody who lived in someone else's shadow for a long time. Being somebody who was ignored or told they weren’t good enough or important enough or whatever.
"I think she takes her power back whenever she can."
Yellowjackets season 2 airs on Showtime in the US and Paramount+ in the UK.
