Execs at new Restaurant Row concept dish on big-buck buildout

Thiago Castro says the decision to open the newest Chima Steakhouse in Orlando came as a byproduct of real estate’s cardinal rule: Location, location, location.

The director of development of the Fort Lauderdale-based high-end Brazilian steakhouse chain said securing a space on Restaurant Row — Orlando’s ultra-popular corridor of top restaurants along West Sand Lake Road — nudged executives in this direction. The Orlando restaurant soft-opened on July 14 in the Plaza Venezia lifestyle center, edging out other hot markets such as Miami and Aventura, Castro told Orlando Business Journal.

“Everybody is looking for space in Miami, but when we spent more time on research, we found that Orlando is a much better opportunity than Miami in our perception.”
