An ‘exemplary’ business, a standout volunteer, others honored for contributions to Bellefonte
Downtown Bellefonte Inc. recently handed out awards recognizing the recipients’ contributions to the community.
The Award for Resilience went to Shawn Thompson of the Bellefonte YMCA. The award recognizes a business that stood out amid the challenges posed by the pandemic. The winner “successfully maintained operations during this unprecedented time of uncertainty, while also stepping up to serve the needs of the greater community,” DBI said in a statement Tuesday.
The Business of the Year Award went to By A Thread. The shop, which recently moved to a larger space in the borough, was recognized “for an exemplary year.”
The #LoveBFT Award was given to the Bellefonte Community Children’s Garden. The winner of this award played a major role in a project that improved the community.
The Renaissance Award went to The Gamble Mill. This award recognizes a project that helped the revitalization of Bellefonte in at least one of the following ways: historic preservation, economic development, innovation, art or culture.
The Volunteer of the Year Award went to Nancy Perkins. The award honors a person or group “for their exceptional volunteer service to the organization.”
The award winners were chosen by Downtown Bellefonte board members and community members. They were recognized last week during Friday in the ‘Fonte. “Bellefonte’s downtown business community is exploding with talent, passion and dedication,” Main Street Manager Jennilyn Schuster said.
