Exeter Area General Federation of Women's Clubs gives time and money to Gather

EXETER - The organization Gather has a mission. It is to make the Greater Seacoast a hunger-free community. The Exeter Area General Federation of Women’s Club (GFWC) has been working that mission too. Exeter Area GFWC’s President Mary Ryan has chosen food insecurity as her President’s Project.

Ten members and a few guest volunteers volunteers to pass out food from the Gather trucks on location five different times in December and once in January.

On Jan. 11, three EAGFWC members toured the Gather Warehouse and Pantry Market in Portsmouth. They also presented Gather's Executive Associate Director Seneca with a $1,000 donation. Ninety cents of every dollar donated to Gather goes directly toward local hunger relief.

EAGFWC helped distribute Gather distribute food from its trucks in December and January. Andra Copeland, Pam Conary, Diane Charney, Mary Ryan, Exeter Area GFWC President, Linda Gavin-Howard and Jeanne O'Sullivan, GFWC NH President were some of the volunteers.

For 200 years, Gather has been serving Seacoast residents facing hunger. The agency was founded in 1816 by a small group of women committed to feeding the families of fishermen.
