Exeter Township water main installation project to begin Wednesday

Aug. 28—Pennsylvania American Water is scheduled to begin work Wednesday to install 2,900 feet of new water main in Exeter Township, the company announced Monday.

The $600,000 project will extend public water service to residents on East Lorane Road and Neversink Road, company officials said in a release.

The project will also connect two portions of the system, befitting a large portion of the township by providing better water quality and new fire protection to about 50 properties, company officials said.

Crews will work weekdays between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Traffic restrictions will be in place during construction on East Lorane Road from Painted Sky Road to the Antietam Creek crossing, and on Neversink Road from East Lorane Road to Willow Street.

The company expects to complete installation by the end of October, with final street restoration taking place in late fall or winter.

During construction, Pennsylvania American Water will work with interested residents to determine the location of the water service connection and meter pit on their property, officials said.

Once the main is installed, the company will return to connect any new customers who wish to have public water service. The company does not charge a tap-in fee to connect to the water system, but each participating resident is responsible for the costs of installing and maintaining their service line and plumbing on their property.

Crews will work as quickly as possible to shorten the length of the construction-related inconveniences, officials said.
