SOUTH BEND — The following exhibits continue at the South Bend Museum of Art, 120 S. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.:

“Innermost,” a new two-person photography exhibition by Melonie Mulkey and Sara Fahling, through March 19. “Innermost” explores themes of interiority, both physical and mental. Inspired by mystical theology and texts regarding states of the soul and its longing to connect with the divine, Mulkey uses place as a metaphor for contemplating what is hidden inside the self. Creating diorama sets for the camera and creative lighting techniques, Mulkey’s constructed photographs aim to bring an emotional and reflective experience to the viewer.

In Fahling’s embroidered photographs, pensive stitching accumulates over each subject, revealing how mental health can affect one’s ability to remember over time. Fahling’s work focuses on legacy, the fragility of memory, and how photographs construct personal histories, expanding beyond the photographic into book arts and textile-based imagery.

“The Performing Media Festival: An International New Media Exhibition," through March 19. Curated by Krista Hoefle, Brandi Bowman and Josh Miller, “The Performing Media Festival” showcases new works of integrated media with emerging technologies by artists who are unapologetically crossing disciplinary boundaries. Selected artists come from around the world, including from Barcelona, Spain; Sao Paolo, Brazil; and Osaka Japan.

“The Performing Media Festival” also has a live performance component that includes events at 7 p.m. March 9 and noon March 10 at Indiana University South Bend and at 7 p.m. March 10 at LangLab, 1302 High St.

Performers include guest artist Sabina Covarrubias, headliners After Ours (Eli Kahn & Arthur Schroeder), student electronic music ensemble the Audio Visual Collective, and a full roster of instrumentalists from Ensemble Concept/21 (EC/21).
