DOVER — The Art Center is honored to present “Rock the House,” an exhibition of work created by our Studio Artists. Some of the best artists of the Seacoast come together to display an eclectic collection of work.

These phenomenal artists show their work near and far, but The Art Center is their creative home. Upon entering our gallery, the iconic and star-studded work of Aaron Stanley greets you. You’ll get swept away by the captivating colors in coastal scenes by Joe Flaherty and the striking abstract landscapes of Tim Gilbert. Dive into Brooke Lambert’s vibrant and textured ocean-inspired prints and gaze at the stunning mountain tops, sailing ships, and rising trees by Rebecca Klementovich. Step on stage to see Darryl Loyer’s sculptures jump off the wall enticing you to question and look closer. These are just some talented artists that call The Art Center their home.

The exhibition runs from May 8 to June 30. Join us for our Artists Reception on June 3 from 6 to 9 p.m. The Art Center is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and by appointment. The Art Center is located at 1 Washington St., Suite 1177, in Dover, N.H.

Pianist Roxane Park takes top prize in Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra’s 2023 Young Artist Competition

PORTSMOUTH — The Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra recently awarded pianist Roxane Park first prize in its annual Young Artist Competition. Park will perform her winning solo concerto, the third movement of Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in C Minor, Op. 18, at the final mainstage performance of the season on June 11 at 3 p.m. at The Music Hall in Portsmouth, N.H.

Hugo Chen, violin, was awarded 2nd place, Benny Wang, piano, was awarded 3rd place and Katy Scott, violin, was awarded an honorable mention. Daniel Chin-Garita, violin, Akira McDowell, flute, Jane Park, violin, and Jenny Qu, viola, were also finalists in the 2023 competition.

Roxane Park is a 10th grader at Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, N.H. where she is a student of Mila Filatova, Silvana Sokolov, and Alexander Korsantia. Park has competed in international competitions and received top prizes at several, including the National MTNA Competition (where she was also awarded the Chopin Prize), Paderewski International Competition, Bradshaw & Buono International Piano Competition, New England Piano Teachers’ Association, and Steinway Society of Massachusetts Piano Competition.

In addition to performing multiple times at Carnegie Hall and Boston’s Symphony Hall, Park has performed in public master classes with Simone Dinnerstein, Andreas Klein, Alexander Kobrin, John Perry, and Yuan Sheng. Park performed at the International Chopin Piano Festival, “Lato z Chopinem,” in Busko-Zdroj, Poland. She was featured in episode 372 of NPR’s From the Top with guest host Jeremy Denk at Dartmouth College’s Spaulding Auditorium and in the From the Top Virtual Gala in 2020.

Outside of music, Park loves writing poetry and short stories. She is the recipient of a Caroline D. Bradley Scholarship, a full four-year, merit-based high school scholarship.

3 Shades of Gray at the Garrison Arts Center

ROLLINSFORD — This Musical Duo serves up some of the best vocal harmonies in the Seacoast area while playing multiple musical instruments.
