Expect colder-than-normal temps in metro Detroit

Grab all the layers you have in your closet to bundle up this week— temperatures are dropping into the single digits in metro Detroit.

A cold front passing through the state will lead to a colder-than-average week, said Kyle Klein, meteorologist at the National Weather Service in White Lake.

"It will be below normal temperatures, but we see it usually at least once a winter, if not more, when we get these arctic air masses," he said.

Temperatures Wednesday afternoon will begin to fall and hit the low teens in the city and single digits in the suburbs by nightfall, Klein said. During the day on Thursday, metro Detroiters can expect temperatures in the low 20s, but some areas might see negatives at night.

"By Saturday, we kind of moderate a little bit and temperatures get back in the mid to upper 20s, but then there's gonna be another cold shot the start next week so we're gonna be in colder patterns pretty much for at least the next week, if not longer."

Although the cold will be worsened by windchill, Klein said it's expected to stay relatively dry.
