Expect delays as undergrounding work continues long South Ocean Boulevard this week

Motorists in Palm Beach will continue to experience delays along South Ocean Boulevard from South County Road to Gulfstream Road this week as work continues on the town's undergrounding project.

Part of Phase 3 of the project — the work on South Ocean — began on Oct. 5 and is expected to be completed by Friday.

Traffic delays can be expected in other areas because additional projects are being rolled out this week and in the coming weeks as the town's contractor, Ranger Construction, continues milling and resurfacing for Phase 2 South undergrounding, Via Agape north to Clarendon Avenue, and a portion of Phase 3 South on South Ocean Boulevard from South County Road north to Gulfstream Road.

South County Road is closed to one lane as Ranger Construction continues milling and resurfacing of South Ocean Boulevard from South County Road to Gulfstream Road on Monday. The work on is expected to be finished by Friday.

In a release this month, the town asked motorists to avoid parking in the road right-of-way on the days of milling and paving, and noted that the paving material will not adhere to tires and will not be tracked onto driveways.

The Public Works Department also is asking landscapers not to place vegetation in the road right-of-way during milling and resurfacing.

The town's 10-year, $128 million utilities undergrounding project to bury all overhead power, cable television and phone lines, is scheduled to be finished in the summer of 2026.

Here is the updated schedule for road projects:
