Guy Harvey — artist, scientist, conservationist and entrepreneur — has a date with his fans in Bradenton.

Harvey, 68, will be available for meet-and-greets, photos and merchandise-signing at Bealls Florida, 6355 Manatee Ave. W. His appearance will be 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Dec. 3.

The wildlife artist has a more-than-30-year history with Bradenton-based Bealls.

An art event is planned outside the store near the main entrance at 11:30 a.m. A foundation staff member will be on the site to supply paint and brushes to fans who wish to test their art skills.

“We have a long, wonderful relationship with Bradenton, Tampa Bay and Southwest Florida,” Harvey said in a phone interview with the Bradenton Herald.

In addition, the Manatee School District partners with the Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation on the Guy Harvey Academy of Arts and Science at Anna Maria Elementary School. The academy, focused on marine sciences, conservation and the arts, opened in the 2022 school year.

A portion of proceeds from sales of Guy Harvey apparel and merchandise benefits ocean research, education and conservation initiatives through the Guy Harvey Foundation. The foundation is dedicated to saving the seas, supporting research and helping foster the next generation of ocean conservationists.

The foundation seeks to bring marine science literacy and ocean conservation issues to schools, teachers and students by providing and implementing free and accredited marine science courses.

As the population grows, more needs to be done to protect sea life and ensure that fishing is done in a sustainable way, Harvey said.
