Experimental Aircraft Association invites public to dine with the Wright Brothers

NEW PHILADELPHIA — Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 1077 is inviting the public to buy tickets to dine with the Wright Brothers on Sept. 17 as part of a program that is promoted as being educational and humorous.

It will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in their hangar at Harry Clever Field. The cost is $25 per person.

The program will feature NASA Glenn engineer and educator Tom Benson and NASA educator Roger Storm.

"They dress up like Orville and Wilbur Wright in costume," said EAA member Terry Henry. "They tell the story of how they invented the airplane and the struggles associated with it. They will talk about how in France they changed women's clothing ... causing the hobble skirt rage. We will have a model there in costume."

Another performer will portray John T. Daniels, who took the iconic photo of the Wrights taking off under power for the first time.

Extra ambiance will be provided by a replica of the Wright Brothers' 1911 glider. , which will be displayed directly above guests' heads during the dinner and show.

Reservations may be made by mailing a check for $25 per person to: EAA Chapter 1077, P.O. Box 1, New Philadelphia, OH 44663. Reservations cannot be confirmed without receipt of a check.
