How experts graded every Alabama football player taken in 2022 NFL Draft

Figuring out whether a team's selection is good or bad during the 2022 NFL Draft is somewhat an exercise in futility.

Sure, the fit of a player can be evaluated as can what he has done in the college game. But to know the real value of the pick isn't fair for a couple of years.

Still, experts provide grades for every single pick of the three-day event anyway, almost immediately after each one is announced.

Here's a look at how some draft analysts graded the selections of Alabama football players in the draft.

EVAN NEAL: Pros and cons of New York Giants picking Alabama football's Evan Neal in 2022 NFL Draft

BRIAN ROBINSON JR: Pros and cons of Washington Commanders picking Alabama's Brian Robinson Jr. in NFL Draft

Evan Neal, offensive line

Team: New York Giants

Pick: No. 7 overall (first round)

Grades: A (CBS), A+ (Bleacher Report), A (The Athletic)

What they said: "The Giants can start Andrew Thomas at one tackle spot and Neal at the other. Neal has proven how versatile he can be and has the upside to be an All-Pro." – The Athletic's Sheil Kapadia

Jameson Williams, receiver

Team: Detroit Lions

Pick: No. 12 overall (first round)

Grades: B (CBS), B+ (Bleacher Report), B (The Athletic)

What they said: "Williams’ ceiling is as high as any pass-catcher in the draft. He was my favorite wide receiver in this class. The Lions couldn’t resist. Not sure I would have been able to either." – Kapadia

John Metchie III, receiver

Team: Houston Texans

Pick: No. 44 overall (second round)

Grades: C- (CBS), B (Bleacher Report), C (The Athletic)

What they said: "Vertical specialist. Ran a variety of intricate downfield routes at Alabama. Tracks it over his shoulder awesomely. Not overly fast deep. Minimal YAC. Smaller frame. Trading up for a specialist is a little strange." – CBS Sports' Chris Trapasso

Phidarian Mathis, defensive line

Team: Washington Commanders

Pick: No. 47 overall (second round)

Grades: B (CBS), B (Bleacher Report), C (The Athletic)

What they said: "He projects as a disruptive player against the run and could have some pass-rush upside. The knocks on Mathis are that he’s already 24 years old, and he’s among the worst athletes at defensive tackle in this year’s class. I don’t love that combination." – Kapadia

Christian Harris, linebacker

Team: Houston Texans

Pick: No. 75 overall (third round)

Grades: B (CBS), B (Bleacher Report), A- (The Athletic)

What they said: "Lightning-bug of a LB who flies all over the field. Suddenness is dynamic. But he's a better athlete than a refined linebacker at this point and he misses plenty of tackles. Gets engulfed often by bigger blockers but not a major problem because he's so fast." – Trapasso

Brian Robinson Jr., running back

Team: Washington Commanders

Pick: No. 98 overall (third round)

Grades: C+ (CBS), D (Bleacher Report), B- (The Athletic)

What they said: "One of the more underrated big backs in this class. Feet like he's 20 pounds lighter. Defenders fall off him. Not a burner type. Vision and contact balance are pluses and he's deceptively good out of the backfield. Minimal mileage on his legs. Was this the biggest need here?" – Trapasso

Jalyn Armour-Davis, cornerback

Team: Baltimore Ravens

Pick: No. 199 overall (fourth round)

Grades: A+ (CBS), B (Bleacher Report)

What they said: "Alabama’s Jalyn Armour-Davis fits the profile of a Baltimore Ravens cornerback. He’s a 6-1, 197-pound defender out of a program known for developing well-coached, physical defensive backs." – Bleacher Report's Brent Sobleski
