Looking for an event where you can possibly have the time of your life — or at least a fun experience watching one of the most iconic films of the 1980s?

Exploration Place is offering three interactive screenings of “Dirty Dancing” — where moviegoers can sing, shout, snack and even dance along — on Feb. 16-18 in its Dome theater, which features a 60-foot screen with 360-degree viewing.

“It’s a brand new way to watch a movie most of us know and love,” said Erin Manning, director of marketing and special events with Exploration Place.

Moviegoers, who will get a bag of props to use during the film, can even dress up in costumes based on characters or scenes from the romantic drama, set in the summer of 1963 at Kellerman’s Mountain House resort in the Catskill Mountains.

The 1987 coming-of-age movie starred Jennifer Grey as naïve resort guest Baby and Patrick Swayze as the resort’s dance teacher Johnny Castle. It features some classic lines, like “Nobody puts Baby in a corner,” and the multi-award-winning theme song, “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life.”

Before the show, there will be dance lessons, games, a photo booth, cash bar and other activities in the Dome lobby.

Exploration Place has offered various movie experiences, including sing-alongs, in the past, and they often sell out.

With the romantic theme and iconic status of “Dirty Dancing,” it seemed like a great date night movie option for couples to celebrate Valentine’s Day or a group of female friends to celebrate Galentine’s Day, Manning said.

While Exploration Place won’t be policing the age of moviegoers for the PG-13 rated “Dirty Dancing,” Manning said it’s better suited for adults.

Tickets are $20 for general admission and $30 for VIP, with discounts for Exploration Place members.
