Forget Uber-the most convenient (and, not to mention, the most fun) way to vineyard-hop in Napa is now in a vintage Volkswagen bus. It's a service offered by West Wine Tours that's currently blowing up on Airbnb.

The tour itself isn't so unlike any other winery tour experience you can book in the Napa Valley area. For $125 a person, you visit three vineyards over the course of about six hours (Hagafen Cellars, Pestoni Family Vineyards and Paraduxx on a "typical" day, they explain), have lunch somewhere in the middle, and have all the safe transportation you need to get from one place to the next. The biggest difference is that said transportation is either a 1968, 1969, 1971 or a 1979 VW bus.

The team at West Wine Tours is very upfront: The vans are as cute as you'd imagine, but they're also "often fully booked and extremely temperamental. They are 40 and 50 years old! There are days where the vans are not working probably and need to go into the shop." There are a few reviews that mention having to deal with broken down vans, but they also note they were promptly booked into alternate transportation, so nothing about their day suffered. Oh, and the busses are not air-conditioned.

Regardless, when the day runs smoothly, it is an indisputable blast. People also comment constantly on the quality of the guides, the loveliness of the van, and how quickly they'd do it again. There are also photo opps on photo opps on photo opps.

...Which, let's be real, is the most important reason for booking this kinda thing anyway. :)
