Explore Outdoors: Road of 'broken dreams' leads to spectacular views along Tioga Pass in Yosemite

Every winter, snow blocks access along Tioga Road, one of Yosemite National Park's highest and most visual roads. At a peak elevation of nearly 10,000 feet, the road winds past mountain lakes, spectacular vistas and history that was once described as "the road to broken dreams." With warmer temperatures and drier conditions, vehicle access is scheduled to reopen along the road on May 27 at 9 a.m. To learn more about the history and see the potential views and vistas you can encounter on a visit, take a look at the video above. Keep in mind that a reservation is required to drive into or through Yosemite National Park from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, while this temporary system is in place through Sept. 30, 2022.
