Explore West St. Paul Days to be held this week

The second year of Explore West St. Paul Days will take place Thursday through Saturday — with a bike ride scheduled for Sunday. This year, a second concert has been added for Friday night. Fireworks also will be held on Friday.

Garage sales will be happening throughout the weekend and a map of locations can be found on their website at https://www.explorewsp.com/citywide-garage-sale-map

Thursday

The city open house will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. at the South Metro Fire Station. The event features booths for more than 30 local nonprofits, businesses and schools; a photo booth; police and fire vehicles; and a dunk tank. Free food, root beer floats and live music from Janelle Burrell Trio will be available.

Friday

A K-9 training demonstration will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the West St. Paul Sports Complex featuring the police department’s two K-9s, Cecil and Bear. Food trucks, including California Dip & Eat, O’Cheeze and the Sizzling Wagon, also will be available from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. The Good for Gary concert begins following the demonstration at 6 p.m. A fireworks show will take place after the concert at 9:45 p.m.

Saturday

The parade will begin at 10:30 a.m. and travel north along Charlton Street from Garlough Environmental Magnet School to Bernard Street West. A sensory-friendly zone with no lights, horns or sirens will be open from Langer Circle to Emerson Avenue. The Art and Environmental Fair will be from noon to 3:30 p.m. at Harmon Park and will include food from VB & J’s.

Three businesses received grants to host events and giveaways Saturday. From 2 to 6 p.m., the El Destino Market & Clothesline Laundromat Event will be at 1834 Oakdale Ave. At the same time, the ROCC Climbers Kids Connection will be at the West St. Paul Sports Complex. The Raddatz Dance open house will be from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. with free drop-in classes.

Food trucks, including Asian Invasion, Neza Tacos and Thai Thai Street Food, and a beer tent will be available starting at 6 p.m. at the West St. Paul Sports Complex and the PopROCKS concert will start at 7 p.m.

Sunday

The West St. Paul Rider will begin at 8:30 a.m. where bikers can choose either the shorter 4.5-mile route through West St. Paul or the 21-mile route along the Mississippi River; both routes start at Garlough Park.
