Russia has been planning sham referendums in the areas of Ukraine it occupies in order to justify its claims to have annexed more Ukrainian territory.

“In the temporarily occupied Melitopol, yet another explosion thundered at night near the headquarters of ‘United Russia,’ where preparations for the so-called "referendum" are underway,” reads the report.

The headquarters of United Russia is located in the Foxtrot shopping center in the center of Melitopol.

According to local media RIA Melitopol, there were no casualties in the explosion. However, the facade of the shopping center where the headquarters is located was significantly damaged.

The publication said the explosion was the work of Ukrainian partisans.

The day before, local media reported that partisans made an assassination attempt near Melitopol on two "members of the commission" who were working on preparations for the sham referendum.
