Timelapse video from a fire camera at California’s Geyser Peak, in Sonoma County, shows the explosive spread of the LNU Lightning Complex fires on August 20.
Video uploaded by ALERTWildfire shows large plumes of smoke rising from terrain in Sonoma County, as the fire complex grew by at least 88,000 acres – from 131,000 acres on the morning of August 20 to 219,067 acres on August 21. The fires were just 7 percent contained, officials said.
ABC10 reported that fire officials confirmed four people have died from the fires, which include the Hennessey, Gamble, 15-10, Spanish, Markley, 13-4, and 11-16 fires.
Cal Fire said they expected there to be significant fire growth on August 21, due to “extreme fire behaviour” and the fires making “runs in multiple directions.” Credit: ALERTWildfire via Storyful
