Extra security at Academy District 20 school due to threat

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — An Academy District 20 (D20) spokesperson sent FOX21 News more information about the threat on social media.

“Please know the threat this morning was made against Pine Creek High School but unfortunately as it grew on social media, rumors emerged that Chinook Trail Middle School was somehow involved. Again, it is business as usual at both of these schools.”

Academy School District 20 (D20) said due to a threat made on social media on Wednesday, Jan. 24, Chinook Trail Middle School will have extra security out of an abundance of caution.

D20 sent an email to parents writing that the school was made aware late Wednesday night that a threat was made on social media to the school. D20, in partnership with the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), investigated the threat and the District wrote that it was business as usual at the school on Thursday, Jan. 25.

D20 further elaborated that out of an abundance of caution, there was additional security at the campus as per standard protocol following all perceived threats.
