Shelby will serve as the set for a sci-fi film for three days this week, and the casting director needs extras.

The requirement is specific.

Extras of Asian descent are needed Wednesday, Thursday and Friday to play soldiers and captives in historical scenes about World War II.

Those of Japanese and Chinese descent are preferred, but Thai, Lao, Vietnamese and Malaysian also will work, according to a casting call from casting director Ron Goleman.

Those interested could work any or all of the three days.

Compensation is $150 for an eight-hour day, to be paid at the end of each day.

The movie, “Site,” stars Jake McLaughlin (Quantico), Theo Rossi (Sons of Anarchy, Miki Ishikawa (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier) and Arielle Kebbel (9-1-1), and is being directed by Jason Eric Perlman. Filming, which began in early July, is taking place in Charlotte, as well as Badin Lake.

According to imbd.com, the movie is about a man who starts to see haunting visions of the past after an encounter at an abandoned government test site.

The Shelby setting will be a war camp in an open field in which soldiers are being held captive.
