“Extremely dangerous:” Police looking for suspect who killed deer with an arrow in OBX town
Police are asking for help in finding out who shot a deer with an arrow in Southern Shores.
The deer was found dead near the Turtle Pond between 61 Ocean Boulevard and 62 Spindrift Trail, according to a release from the Southern Shores Police Department.
Town law prohibits shooting deer with an arrow or a gun within its boundaries.
The Turtle Pond lies within a wooded area along the backs of homes set along Ocean Boulevard, part of N.C. 12. A popular walking path there includes a bridge over the pond and continues to a cross walk on the highway and to a beach access.
“This action, while not only illegal, is extremely dangerous in a residential community, especially in common areas where people recreate,” the release said.
Anyone with information can contact Southern Shores Police Department at 252-261-3331.
