DAVID NOVARRO: I'm David Novarro with a look at some of the local coronavirus headlines. And another mass vaccination site in New York City will now stay open 24/7, the Javits Center, following in the steps of Yankee Stadium, which is also offering round-the-clock shots, all possible because of an increase in vaccine supplies to the city, including the single-dose Johnson & Johnson shot.

Today, New Jersey started administering some of its allotment of the J&J vaccine, and Governor Phil Murphy was in Union City to watch senior citizens become some of the first to get it.

- How do you feel. How was it?

- Not get another shot? That's it?

- That's it. Easy peasy, right?

- Easy, easy. But I mean, it's safe.

ALEX GORSKY: To think, 13 months ago, our scientists took some numbers on a screen and turned it into the vaccine that was administered today, safe, effective, one shot. It brings tears to my eyes.

PHIL MURPHY: I cannot possibly overstate how much this day and this vaccine is a game changer in our fight to protect residents, to save lives, and to defeat this virus.

DAVID NOVARRO: Back in New York City, movie theaters are reopening today for the first time in nearly a year. They can operate at 25% capacity, or up to 50 people per screening.

- Too early for me. I mean, I've had my second vaccination, and it'll be fully effective by this time next week. But I'm not ready.

- I like movies. Movie theaters will always have a place. It doesn't matter if there are streaming services. There's nothing like coming with your kids, with your family.

DAVID NOVARRO: Employees and patrons must wear masks and maintain social distancing. Self-serve food and drink areas will also remain off limits.
