Zuckerberg looks for friends on The Hill

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg made the rounds on Capitol Hill Thursday as he looks to patch things up with lawmakers on both sides of the aisle.

Facebook is just one of the Silicon Valley tech giants accused of becoming too big, snuffing out competition and stifling innovation along the way.

Facebook in particular has also been under scrutiny for data breaches, sharing personal data without users consent to political consultants, while not doing enough to scrub hate speech and misinformation from its platform .

There are several federal and state government probes into possible anti-trust behavior at the world's largest social network.

Zuckerberg spent Wednesday in meetings about election security and data privacy concerns, sources close to the talks told Reuters.

And he's expected to meet with President Trump during this trip, a person briefed on the matter revealed. The White House nor Facebook officials would confirm such a meeting is planned.

Zuckerberg will meet with more lawmakers in Washington on Friday.
