Facing a mountain of debt, Young At Art museum will move rather than be evicted

Broward County‘s only children’s art museum will close.

After years of financial disputes, Broward County and Young At Art are expected to part ways and a deal is being hashed out privately.

Instead of a contentious eviction in the shadow of huge debt, Young At Art would be willing to quietly walk away without threats of a lawsuit if their debt is erased, both county and museum officials said Tuesday.

The museum’s tab: $776,061. County commissioners will make a final decision next week about forgiving it, and the museum would close immediately.
