Fairfax County ‘Laundromat Burglar’ arrested, police say

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — Police in Fairfax County arrested a man in connection to several burglaries at stores in the county.

Detectives had been looking into several burglaries in the Woodlawn neighborhood that appeared to be carried out in the same way. The burglaries took place between December 2023 and January 2024.

The Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) said the following burglaries were being investigated together:

  • Dec. 30, 2023 — Laundromat at 8792 Sacramento Dr.

  • Dec. 30, 2023 — Dry cleaners at 8752 Sacramento Dr.

  • Jan. 8, 2024 — Laundromat at 8792 Sacramento Dr.

  • Jan. 26, 2024 — Tandoori Kabob & Grill at 8792 Sacramento Dr.

  • Jan. 27, 2024 — Dollar General at 8734 Richmond Hwy.

FCPD detectives said during their investigation, they found that Timothy Mears, 48, of Woodlawn was connected to these burglaries. He was arrested on Feb. 8 and held without bond.

Police charged him with the following:

  • Four counts of burglary

  • Four counts of possession of burglarious tools

  • Three counts of wearing mask in public to conceal identity

  • Four counts of destruction of property

  • Two counts of petit larceny

  • One count of grand larceny.
