Fairfield takes new approach to recycling events with inaugural Discard Day Oct. 22

FAIRFIELD, Ohio – Unneeded items along with junk or debris can be disposed of as part of Fairfield’s inaugural Discard Day.

“This is popular in other communities,’’ said Sami Brandenburg, the city’s neighborhood development manager.“We didn’t want it to be just about dumpsters. We’re adding a sustainability element, which would speak to our residents.’

Brandenburg said the new approach should eliminate residents making multiple trips to multiple locations to get rid of items that they no longer want or use.
