Fairfield's 'Restaurant Guardian Angel' Recognized

FAIRFIELD, CT — Fairfield’s “restaurant guardian angel” was recently recognized for her efforts helping local eateries stay afloat despite the coronavirus pandemic.

First Selectwoman Brenda Kupchick declared that Wednesday was Kristyn Golier Day in celebration of Golier's contributions to the area’s business community.

In 2020, Golier created the Facebook group Fairfield County Local Curbside, Takeout and Delivery Restaurants as a place where residents could share information about and support for area eateries during the closures, staffing challenges and other hurdles of the pandemic. The group has more than 12,000 members and remains active, hosting conversations in recent days about where to get the best carrot cake in town and steakhouse recommendations for a birthday celebration.

“Kristyn dedicated her time by volunteering to help our local businesses, restaurants, and bars in our Town and throughout Fairfield County that were struggling due to the pandemic,” Kupchick said in the proclamation declaring the celebratory day, which aligned with Golier's birthday. “Kristyn wanted to thank these establishments for operating under very difficult circumstances and encourage our community to support local to help them survive.”
