Fairgrounds Plans 2 Drive-In Movies For Halloween In Pleasanton

PLEASANTON, CA — The Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton announced this week that two family-friendly, drive-in movie "Boo Bashes," with costume contests and prizes, are planned for Halloween night, Oct. 31.

"Many families are taking a break from Halloween activities this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The fairgrounds is proud to be able to provide a safe alternative to celebrate this year," administrators said.

From pre-purchased parking spaces, ticketholders will watch one of two movies: Hotel Transylvania at 5:45 p.m.; or Sleepy Hollow, featuring Johnny Depp, Christina Ricci and Christopher Walken, at 8:30 p.m. Each movie is sold separately.

Also on tap will be a virtual costume contest, with voting held via social media and gift cards for the winners. Contest photos will be taken at the "selfie spot" in the food-truck area and posted to social media. The four costume categories are: cutest; funniest; best group; and most original.

A car-decoration contest is planned before each movie begins, with winners announced via car radio.

And also going on at the fairgrounds is The Pirates of Emerson Drive-Thru Haunted House — a format revamp due to the coronavirus pandemic. The haunt is open Thursdays to Sundays through Nov. 1. Wednesday evenings were added as additional nights to drive through, but no actors will be present.

A line-up of Grab-n-Stay Food Trucks will be operating Oct. 31 from 4 p.m. -9 p.m.
