Fairies needed: Avon festival attempts magical world record

Avon will be a pretty magical place later this month when hordes of fairies, mermaids, unicorns and other legendary creatures descend on the town.

That’s when it hosts the Central Indiana Enchanted Fairy Festival, an annual family-friendly gathering May 20-21 at Murphy Aquatic Park, 753 S. County Road 625 East.

This year organizers will attempt to break a world record for the most people dressed as fairies in one place on Saturday, May 20. The current world record is 878.

So suit up.

To be counted, fairy costumes must at least include wings, a tutu and a wand.
