KEY ACTION: Approved a change to board policy to adjust the date of when a student can enter kindergarten.

DISCUSSION: Superintendent Broc Bidlack said the board agreed to move up the date when a student can enter kindergarten from Sept. 30 to Aug. 1.

The student must be 5 by Aug. 1 to be eligible.

In another matter, the board acknowledged that two women, who would have graduated in the 1990s, met the 22-plus program graduation requirements and recommended high school diplomas for Trisha Williams, effective Dec. 21, and Michelle Kurtz, effective Nov. 16. The candidates must be older than 22 to enter the program.

OTHER ACTION:

  • Appointed Jody Seward, president pro-tem for the Jan. 10 meeting.

  • Accepted the resignations of Theresa Ocheltree, cook, effective Dec. 17; Larry Chambliss, high school principal, for retirement purposes, effective June 30, and Beverly Schenz, permanent substitute, effective Dec. 17.

  • Granted a one-year supplemental contract to non-district employee Julie Tull, head softball coach.

  • Adopted the 2022-23 school calendar. The first day of school will be Aug. 17.

  • Held an executive session to discuss the employment, dismissal, discipline, and other personnel items. No action was taken.

UP NEXT: Meets at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 10 for an organizational meeting followed by the regular meeting at 1185 Navarre Road, Brewster.
