Fairview Heights bakery reopens bigger than ever. ‘Definitely worth the move,’ says owner

Lizzie Bob’s Bakery opened Tuesday, Aug. 2 at its new location at 5500 N. Illinois St., Suite C, in Fairview Heights, and business is booming.

“Last week was the best week we’ve ever had” including the six years at their previous location, said Owner Elizabeth Toepfer. “It’s definitely worth the move.”

The new bakery is larger, allowing the Toepfers to include a dine-in area. There’s also a local artists area with works available for purchase.

Toepfer said that she plans to start offering classes next month, starting with either a cupcake or cookie decorating class.

Classes will take place on Tuesdays or Wednesdays and will accommodate up to eight students. When available, classes will be posted on the e-commerce portion of the bakery’s website at lizziebobsbakery.com/shop.

Toepfer also said they will offer Friday Night Family Meals starting next month.

Customers will be able to pre-order Friday dinners that will include 12-inch pizzas, roasted chicken with in-season veggies, and other dinner delights. Once up and running, orders can be placed through Thursdays on the e-commerce part of the website.

After closing the former location in the 800 block of Lincoln Trail in early May, Toepfer and her husband Bob Toepfer spent the following months preparing the new location for the move.

At the same time, the Toepfers continued serving customers through their Mobile Bakery at local events including the Maryville and Herald Square farmers markets.

The Mobile Bakery is booked for these markets and other events through October and may add more at a later date.

Lizzie Bob’s Bakery will hold a ribbon-cutting and grand opening celebration at noon Thursday, Aug. 18. Stop by for the festivities. Get some lunch while you’re there.

Hours at Lizzie Bob’s Bakery are 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday-Friday and 8 a.m. to noon Saturday.
