Faith briefs: First Congregational lectures, All Souls speaker, Christian music festival

First Congregational lecture series continues

First Congregational Church’s Summer Lecture Series is titled, "Spiritual Not Religious." The theme will address current attitudes and behaviors toward organized religion, the search for truth and its meaning, and the current trend of NONES (not affiliated with any religion) within the American religious landscape.

The series meets in Blymyer Hall on Sundays from 9:15 to- 10:15 a.m. and continues through July 31. Discussion leaders are Rev. Brad Bunn and Dr. Paul Robinson.

All Souls welcomes guest speaker Sunday

BELLVILLE — All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church of Bellville, 25 Church St., welcomes Wendy Bartlett as guest speaker at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

Bartlett's presentation is titled “What exactly do Quakers believe?” Bartlett, a long-time friend of the Cleveland Society of Friends, will talk about liberal Quakerism, their social justice work, pacifism, and lead a few minutes of silent worship.

MVNU announces Red Rocks Worship at SonFest on Sept. 17

MOUNT VERNON — Mount Vernon Nazarene University is excited to announce Red Rocks Worship will headline SonFest, an outdoor Christian music festival on Saturday, Sept. 17.

Red Rocks Worship is comprised of nine worship leaders and songwriters who have a passion to bring their love of Jesus to people through music. Together, they spread the message for everyone to know the only way, the truth, and the life is found in Jesus.

SonFest is known for its extraordinary lineup of the hottest Christian artists and 2022 is no exception. Joining Red Rocks Worship on the main stage to bring glory to God are Trip Lee, Blanca, Wolves At The Gate and The New Respects. A second stage keeps the music playing all day.

In addition to some of the hottest Christian music and food trucks, the energy and excitement will be ramped up with activities for all ages including a BMX bike show, Zorb Ball racing, archery tag, a 360 video booth and much more.

SonFest is held rain or shine at The Grove on the MVNU campus, 800 Martinsburg Road, Mount Vernon. Gates open at noon with music and activities scheduled until 10 p.m. Acts are subject to change without notice.

Tickets are $30 for general admission and $25 for group tickets. All tickets purchased the day of SonFest will be $35.
