MIMA announces Holy Passion services

The Mansfield Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance (MIMA) will be hosting several Holy Passion services — all taking place at Oasis of Love Church, 190 Chester Ave., Mansfield.

Palm Sunday services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Pastor Jameal O’Neal of Mitchell Chapel A.M.E. Church. Good Friday services are set for 7 p.m. Friday with guest speaker Pastor Aaron Williams Jr. of Maddox Memorial C.O.G.I.C.

The presiding officer will be Elder Shirley Jordan of Oasis of Love Church. Music will be provided by the Mansfield Community Choir.

First Congregational to host aging seminar, Holy Week services

First Congregational Church, 640 Millsboro Road in Mansfield, will host a seminar titled "The Challenges and Opportunities of Aging" from 9:15-10:15 a.m. Sunday in Blymyer Hall. The focus of this discussion will be to help those in the aging process or to help find resources for our aging loved ones. Resource persons will be Lucy Amsbaugh and Lorie Casto from Wedgewood Estates.

Palm Sunday worship services will take place Sunday at 8:30 a.m. in the chapel and at 10:30 a.m. in the sanctuary.

Additional services planned for the coming week are the Maundy Thursday service at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary, Good Friday service at noon in the chapel, and Easter Sunday worship services at 8:30 a.m. in the chapel and 10:30 a.m. in the sanctuary.

All Souls to welcome speaker on famous poet

BELLVILLE — All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church of Bellville, 25 Church St., welcomes Wendy Bartlett as guest speaker at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

In celebration of National Poetry month, Bartlett's presentation is titled, “Open Me Carefully: The Marketing of Emily Dickinson.” Emily Dickinson had a long-term correspondence with a famous Unitarian, Thomas Wentworth Higginson. A hero among abolitionists and Unitarians, Wentworth’s reputation is much more complex when it comes to his role as Dickinson’s literary agent and marketer.

Trinity United Methodist to hold three Holy Week services

The following Holy Week services will take place this week at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1592 Grace St., Mansfield:

  • Palm Sunday: Regular service at 9:30 a.m.

  • Maundy Thursday: Remembering the night before Christ's death, 7 p.m.

  • Easter, April 9: Sunrise service at 7:30 a.m. followed by breakfast; morning service at 9:30 a.m.

Mansfield church hosting dinner Friday

Ridgeway Church of God at 1380 Park Avenue East in Mansfield will hold a ham and potato dinner from 4:30-6 p.m. Friday. The menu will include ham, baked potatoes, green beans, desserts and drinks.

The cost is a donation.

Morrow Bible Church announces Easter services

Morrow Bible Church at 423 County Road 204 in Centerburg has announced a series of Easter weekend events.

A Good Friday service will take place at 7 p.m. on Friday with Pastor Dave Layton from Bucyrus Bible Church as the guest speaker. There will be a Sunrise Service at 7 a.m. on April 9 at the Bloomfield Cemetery with a message from Samuel Finneran, intern assistant at Morrow Bible Church. A breakfast will be held at 7:45 a.m. April 9 in the church fellowship hall. That will be followed by Sunday School at 9:30 a.m. and morning worship services at 10:45 a.m. with Pastor Stephen Howard on the meaning and power of the resurrection.
