Falcon baseball earns fourth straight victory

The Constantine baseball team won a pair of close contests on Tuesday.

The victories, 2-1 and 4-3, came over Galesburg-Augusta. With the wins, the Falcons have now picked up victories in four straight games.

The opener saw The Falcons trail 1-0 entering the third. There, Constantine scored once and added once in the fourth as well.

Juice Griffith logged a base hit that scored one. Caleb Hall clubbed a single and a double in the game, Brayden Clark added a base hit as well.

Brody Kniffen struck out 13 for the Falcons on the mound. He pitched all seven innings.

The two squads were tied 3-3 entering the home half of the sixth inning in the second game. There, Constantine scored what would be the game-winning run.

Clark singled and doubled in this game, Hall drove in one with a base hit. Alex Forrester also collected an RBI base hit in the game.

Dom Jacobs and Alex Brossman both singled for the Falcons.

Gavin Lewis pitched the opening 4 2/3 innings, he struck out four. Picking up the win was Brossman, he struck out two in the final 2 1/3 innings.

Eddies sweep SHS

The Sturgis baseball team dropped a pair of games at Edwardsburg on Tuesday.

The Eddies won the games, 10-0 and 10-4.

Sturgis collected two hits in the first game, a single each from Taner Patrick and Matt Wynes.

Patrick, Gibson Cary and Zach Green pitched for the Trojans, they scattered 12 hits in the game.

Sturgis and Edwardsburg were tied 2-2 after three and a half innings in the second game. The Eddies then scored once in the third, three times in the fourth and four times in the sixth.

Sturgis would add two runs in the seventh.

Patrick connected for two hits in the game. Dakota Luce drove in two runs for the Trojans, he hit a single.

Cary doubled in the game, Gavyn Moore hit a single.

Wyatt Dudek started the game on the mound, he struck out two. Wynes and Moore pitched the final three innings, striking out one.

Connor Ostrander of Edwardsburg clubbed three home runs on the day.

Otsego tops TR

Otsego beat Three Rivers in a pair of baseball games on Monday, 7-1 and 6-1.

In the first game, Drew McClain connected for two hits for the Cats. Connor Quake, Drew Keene and Brady Bissett each had a base hit as well.

Mark Wittenberg opened the game on the mound, he struck out five in 4 2/3 innings. Lloyd Ruesink pitched the final 1 1/3 innings with three strikeouts.

Wittenberg and Luis Warmack collected two hits each for TR in the second game.

McClain, Quake, Ruesink and Maddox Hagen each hit a base hit.

Quake tossed five innings, he did not allow an earned run.

Marcellus splits

The Marcellus baseball team split a pair of games with Hartford on Monday.

The Wildcats won the first game, 13-12, but dropped the second 11-5.

In the opener, Marcellus scored three times in the bottom of the fifth to win the game. The Cats scored four times in the first plus three times in the second and fourth innings.

Brock Buck collected two hits and drove in five runs in the game. Nolan Robinson added two hits as well while Cole Thornburgh and Nathan Mihills each had RBI hits.

Brendan Beard tripled in the game, both Dawson Lehew and Travis Marsh were credited with an RBI.

Lehew picked up the win, tossing the fifth inning. Mihills pitched the opening 3 2/3 innings.

In the second game, Buck notched two hits. Thornburgh once again drove in one with a base hit as did Marsh. Beard hit a triple, Lehew and Brock McWilliams each hit a single.

Mendon wins twice

The Mendon baseball team beat up on Comstock on Monday.

The Hornets won the games 15-4 and 8-1.

The opener saw Evan Lukeman and Luke Schinker each connect for two hits, they combined to drive in three runs. Jackson Kindig drove in three runs in the game, he hit a double.

Chase Scheffler also drove in three runs, he hit a triple. Caiden Adams and Chris Dupree each hit an RBI single for the Hornets.

Adams struck out 10 in five innings of work.

Mendon led 6-1 through four innings in the second game. The Hornets then scored six times in the fifth.

Connor Oatley clubbed three hits and drove in two runs. Kindig added two RBI as well, he connected for a pair of hits. Schinker also had an RBI base hit, Lukeman was credited with an RBI in the win.

Kindig pitched all five innings. He struck out five in the win.
