The Falcon and the Winter Soldier star Daniel Brühl has unveiled the first look at his character Baron Zemo, teasing a major Easter egg from the comic books.

The actor, who made his first appearance as the supervillain in Captain America: Civil War, is due to reprise his role for Disney+'s Falcon and the Winter Soldier TV series when the MCU officially enters Phase 4.

Taking to Instagram, the Zemo actor has now shared a first-look image of his character.

"Zemo is getting ready," Brühl wrote.

While the first picture doesn't reveal much, the second one shows Zemo wearing a mask, similarly to his comics incarnation.

Baron Zemo's return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe has opened up many burning questions, after his story on screen was very different in comparison to the comic book iteration.

Many fans will remember that instead of starting as the instant enemy of Steve Rogers (Chris Evans), in the movie adaptation he only became evil once his wife and son were killed in the Battle of Sokovia, leading him to initiate his vengeance plan to the rest of the Avengers.

Unfortunately, we're still far away from any plot details about the TV series and we'll have to wait to see what Zemo's really capable of.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is expected to be released in August next year, and is one of a number of Marvel Disney+ shows in the works, along with WandaVision and Loki.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will premiere on Disney+ in 2020.
