Fall is coming — and so is cooler weather

Wednesday is the first day of fall and cooler temperatures are also coming soon to Hampton Roads, according to the forecast from the National Weather Service in Wakefield.

Although temperatures will between the mid 70s and low 80s toward the beginning of the week, NWS Meteorologist Mike Rusnack says the humidity from this summer is behind us.

“We’re getting out of that summer heat and humidity right now, it may be pretty muggy today and tomorrow but it should cool down Thursday,’ Rusnack said.

The NWS forecast calls for temperatures between the high 60s and mid 70s throughout portions of the week with much cooler and dry weather expected Friday through Sunday.

A strong cold front is expected to move into central Virginia late Wednesday through Thursday brining heavy rain to some parts of the state, but Rusnack says fall showers shouldn’t be as severe as this summer’s storm season.
