Fall Festival and Trunk or Treat on tap in Springfield this weekend

From pumpkin decorating to early trick-or-treating, there's plenty to do in Springfield this weekend.

Here are six events to check out:

Full Moon Trail Run

Embrace the full moon with family on Friday by attending a full moon trail run.

The free event will begin at 7 p.m. at Lewis Park & Trails, 399 S Koke Mill Road.

A three-mile run and one-mile family walk option will be offered. Tiki torches will light up the course for participants but headlamps or flashlights are encouraged.

Kiwanis Club of Springfield Anniversary Celebration

Celebrate a century of service with Kiwanis Club of Springfield at its anniversary on Friday.

The anniversary will take place from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Erin's Pavilion, 4965 S. Second St.

Kiwanis International Vice-President Lee Kuan Yong, former Gov. Jim Edgar and motivational speaker Rachel Fisher will be among the guest speakers. There will also be a dinner buffet that includes roast pork loin, encrusted parmesan chicken breast and dessert.

Fall Festival

Lincoln Memorial Gardens will host a Fall Festival on Saturday and Sunday.

It will take place from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. both days at Lincoln Memorial Garden, 2301 East Lake Shore Drive.

There will be activities for children, artisan exhibits, performances, face painting and photo contests. Food and drinks will also be available.

Tickets are $8. Admission is free for children younger than 10.

Carve for the Carillion

Kick off the harvest season with pumpkin carving and more at Washington Park on Saturday and Sunday.

Carve for the Carillon will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days at Thomas Rees Memorial Carillon and Washington Park Botanical Garden, 1740 W. Fayette Ave.

There will be spooky music, pumpkin carving and elaborate, themed musical concerts from the park district carillonist, Carlo van Ulft.

Admission is free.

Trunk or Treat

State Farm will host the seconnd annual Trunk or Treat event on Saturday.

The event will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. at Damon Priddy State Farm, 2951 Montvale Drive.

There will be face painting, a bounce house and a food truck. Candy will also be given away from the trunks of vehicles.

Captain Geech and the Shrimp Shack Shooters

Listen to live music outdoors Sunday at Danenberger Family Vineyards, 12341 Irish Road, New Berlin.

Captain Geech and the Shrimp Shack Shooters will perform at 2 p.m. Food and drinks will be available for purchase.

There is no cover charge.
