MANITOWOC - We're nearing peak fall foliage in Manitowoc (it's estimated to be the third week of October on Travel Wisconsin's Fall Color Report).

To help get out and enjoy the fall colors, local Rotary clubs are putting on a road rally this Saturday.

Here's what to know about Saturday's road rally, plus more things to do in Manitowoc this weekend.

1. See fall colors during Rotary Road Rally

This Saturday, Rotary clubs in Manitowoc County are hosting a Rotary Road Rally — a perfect chance to enjoy the gorgeous fall colors!

This road rally, which begins at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Conservatory of Music, 6751 Calumet Ave., consists of a leisurely drive covering approximately 100 miles of local backroads of Manitowoc and the surrounding counties.

Participants follow turn-by-turn directions and are encouraged to stop at designated attractions and businesses to get their passports validated.

The final destination will offer a cash bar, gift basket raffles and dinner for two, which is included in the registration.

Cost is $100 per vehicle and includes two people. The event runs until 9 p.m.

2. Enjoy a historic and spooky All Hallow’s Eve

From 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, enjoy a historic and spooky evening at Manitowoc County Historical Society, 924 Pinecrest Road, Manitowoc, complete with Halloween stories, activities and Victorian-era characters!

This family-friendly event includes trick-or-treating around Pinecrest Village, so costumes are encouraged.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $7 for children ages 4-17, and free for museum members and children younger than 4.

3. Take the USS Cobia Nook and Cranny Tour

Join submarine veteran Greg Miller as he takes you on an in-depth tour of the historic World War II submarine the USS Cobia at 1 p.m. Sunday at Wisconsin Maritime Museum, 75 Maritime Drive, Manitowoc.

This two-hour tour, recommended for ages 12 and older, focuses on how submarines work and allows time for questions.

Space is limited, so reservations are required.

4. Attend Lakeshore Wind Ensemble’s Music of the Masters & Oktoberfest Concert

Let the sounds of Oktoberfest classics like “Liechtensteiner Polka” put you in a fall mood as the Lakeshore Wind Ensemble kicks off its 39th season!

The first half of the show will feature traditional symphony works with world-renowned tubist Dr. Michael Forbes and the second half is sure to make you want to polka!

5. Celebrate National Cheese Curd Day at Farm Wisconsin Discovery Center

Saturday is National Cheese Curd Day!

Farm Wisconsin Discovery Center, 7001 Gass Lake Road, Manitowoc, is hosting a celebration from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. in partnership with Ellsworth Cooperative Creamery that will feature a blind taste testing of different cheese curd flavors and fried cheese curds available at the Wisconsin Café.

Visit Manitowoc is also encouraging everyone to get out to one of Manitowoc’s many restaurants to enjoy some cheese curds!
