FALL RIVER — The Narrows Center for the Arts continues to bring high-quality music and art to the Southcoast, hosting a unique gallery show and a variety of concerts in February, from nationally acclaimed acts to local favorites, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

CONCERTS

Thursday, February 3 - Mike Dawes & Yasmin Williams

Mike Dawes is an English guitarist known for composing, arranging, and performing multiple parts simultaneously on one instrument. He is hailed as one of the world’s most creative modern fingerstyle guitarist with a repertoire spanning solo viral video hits alongside mainstream chart success.

Yasmin Williams is an acoustic fingerstyle guitarist with an unorthodox, modern style of playing. Her music has been commonly described as refreshing, relaxing, unique and has been called some of the most imaginative guitar music out today.

Friday, February 4 - Tim Reynolds and TR3

With a career spanning more than forty years, two-time Grammy nominee and sonic innovator, Tim Reynolds is best known for his seemingly effortless guitar virtuosity, his masterful command of melody and timing and for his uncanny ability to improvise on any instrument he touches.

During the mid-1980s, Reynolds founded his breakthrough electric power trio, TR3, known for their fusion of funk, rock and jazz.

Thursday, February 10 - The James Hunter Six

Over the span of 30 years, James Hunter has worked on the railway, busked in the streets of London, provided backup vocals and guitar for Van Morrison, played clubs and theaters all over the world, written scores of original songs, and recorded some of the most original and honest rhythm & soul albums of the last two decades. And now, The James Hunter Six are back with another sublime offering of no-nonsense rhythm and blues.

Christine Ohlman (aka "The Beehive Queen" for her mile-high platinum-blonde hairdo) is the current, long-time vocalist with NBC's Saturday Night Live Band.

Saturday, February 12 - Professor Louie and the Crowmatix & Christine Ohlman and Rebel Montez

Seasoned live performer, prolific recording artist and versatile multi-instrumentalist (Hammond B3 organ, piano/keyboards, accordion, vocals), Professor Louie also wears the hat of award-winning recording producer and engineer, capturing the talents of some of the worlds most highly acclaimed musicians, most notably, The Band.

Christine Ohlman (aka "The Beehive Queen" for her mile-high platinum-blonde hairdo) is the current, long-time vocalist with NBC's Saturday Night Live Band, whose sixth critically-acclaimed CD with Christine Ohlman & Rebel Montez, "The Deep End," was honored on numerous national end-of-year Top Ten lists.

Friday, February 18 - Tom Rush

Tom Rush is a gifted musician and performer, whose shows offer a musical celebration and journey into the tradition and spectrum of what music has been, can be, and will become. His distinctive guitar style, wry humor and warm, expressive voice have made him both a legend and a lure to audiences around the world.

Saturday, February 19 - Greg Murphy Trio with Paul Beaudry and George Coleman Jr.

Greg Murphy is a dynamic, lyrical pianist on his latest release “Cool Water,” his third on Whaling City Sound and sixth as a leader. It really “swings” and showcases, yet again, his chops as a composer and arranger. Of the twelve tunes, seven are original and each song is inspired by real life experiences and the special people in his life.

Thursday, February 24 - Marcia Ball

“Fifty years have passed in a flash," says Texas-born, Louisiana-raised pianist, songwriter and vocalist Marcia Ball of her long and storied career. Ball, the 2018 Texas State Musician Of The Year, has won worldwide fame and countless fans for her ability to ignite a full-scale roadhouse rhythm and blues party every time she takes the stage. Her rollicking Texas boogies, swampy New Orleans ballads and groove-laden Gulf Coast blues have made her a one-of-a-kind favorite with music lovers all over the world.

Saturday, February 26 - Johnny Hoy and the Bluefish

Formed in 1991, Johnny Hoy and the Bluefish has evolved through many incarnations, three Tone Cool and two self-produced CDs, trips around the world as far as South Africa, and mostly the joys of playing a lot of music on Martha's Vineyard where most of them live. Johnny and company are purveyors of the American songbook and know how to get the place moving.

“19 ON PAPER”

Nineteen on Paper is a group of New England artists who come together to create and exhibit works of art of, on, or with paper. Members are painters, collage artists, printmakers, book artists, photographers, digital artists, and sculptors. The mission of 19 on Paper is to promote an appreciation of art created on or with paper through exhibitions and portfolios and to provide for sharing, networking, and professional growth among its members.
