It's fall y'all, and here's some of what's happening in and around Etowah County

Fall's a fine time for events in the Deep South. In and around Etowah County there are events to enjoy. Here are a few:

Break Away Art Exhibition opening

Walnut Gallery will host an opening reception 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday for artist Parker Hunt's exhibition "Break Away," along with an opportunity to meet the artist. The event is free and open to all. The pieces displayed are the body of work from Hunt's Masters Thesis Exhibition at the University of Alabama. Walnut Gallery is located at 806 Walnut St., Gadsden.

Boaz's 58th Annual Harvest Festival

Admission is free for the annual two-day celebration at 100 E. Bartlett St. in Boaz, starting at 8 a.m. Friday and ending at 6 p.m. Saturday. There will be vendors, music and the Miss Harvest Festival Pageant.

Vintage Pickin'® Fall Market

Shop for antiques, vintage items, fall and Christmas home decor, craft items, vintage clothing, art and gift items, and enjoy tasty treats, drinks, food trucks, and live music Friday and Saturday at the DeKalb County's VFW Fairgrounds,151 18th St. NE Fort Payne. There's free admission for children 12 and under, and free parking.

First Friday

Downtown Gadsden, Inc. hosts First Friday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Streets will be blocked to give space for live entertainment, classic cars and food and drink vendors for the evening. Retail stores will stay open late, and restaurants will be ready to serve for the monthly event.

Trick-or-Treat Village at Noccalula Falls Park

The City of Gadsden Parks and Recreation Department presents Halloween fun from 10 am. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Noccalula Falls Park. Admission is $6 for adults, $4 for children ages 4-12, and children 3 or younger get in free. There will be treats, food vendors and Big Sam the Balloon Man. The first 750 kids get a free bag. People may avoid lines by purchasing tickets online at www.noccalulafallspark.com.
