Fallen Austin police officer Jorge Pastore's funeral set for Friday at Circuit of the Americas

Officials announced that the funeral for Jorge Pastore, the Austin police SWAT officer who was shot and killed this past weekend, will take place on Friday.

Pastore's funeral and visitation will be held at the Germania Insurance Amphitheater at the Circuit of the Americas, with a funeral procession of police and other emergency vehicles expected to take place beforehand, according to a Facebook post by the Austin Police Department Honor Guard.

The procession route is expected to go across much of the city, starting near MoPac and 2222. It will go north on MoPac, then take U.S. 183 to Interstate 35 and go south until it reaches downtown and the Texas State Capitol before heading to the Circuit of the Americas.

The procession is expected to start at 8 a.m., with the visitation expected to last from 9:30 to 11 a.m. and the funeral scheduled immediately afterward from 11 a.m. to noon.

Pastore was among four people who died in a hostage standoff at a South Austin home early Saturday. It marked the first time in more than a decade that an Austin police officer has been killed in a line-of-duty shooting.

The assailant and two people inside the home also died. Their identities have not been released as of Tuesday morning.
