Fallen Bucks County officers honored with Blue Light tree, wreath

This holiday season there are two reminders of the sacrifice Bucks County officers have made in the line of duty over the past several decades.

On Thursday, the Feasterville Business Association lit up a Christmas tree in blue lights outside of the Lower Southampton Library, something the association has done for 22 years. One week earlier, Bucks County officials placed a wreath, also with blue lights, on the third floor window of the administration building in Doylestown Borough, which the county has done for 14 years.

Both are part of Project Blue Light, which began in 1988.

The project started when Dolly Craig, of Philadelphia, put two blue candles in her window, one for her son-in-law, Philadelphia police officer Daniel Gleason, who died in the line of duty in 1986, and another for her daughter, Pam, who died in a crash in 1988, according to officials.

The wreath at the county building has one blue light to honor every fallen officer in Bucks County. This year they added a light for Warrington K-9 Officer Stephen Plum, 38, who died of a medical event in May.

Feasterville Business Association held its 22nd annual Project Blue Light tree lighting ceremony outside the Lower Southampton Library Thursday.
