Falmouth man faces kidnapping, home invasion, assault charges after police chase

FALMOUTH — A 32-year-old Falmouth man was arrested Thursday afternoon after he allegedly held four people at gunpoint in a home invasion, kidnapped a female, fired a gun at her and led police on a chase, according to a release from police.

The man was charged with home invasion, kidnapping, unlawful possession of a firearm, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, domestic assault and battery, failing to stop for police and several motor vehicle offenses, the release stated. He is being held on $50,000 bail pending his arraignment Friday.

At about 2 p.m., the Falmouth Police Department received a report of a gun fired in an East Falmouth house, according to the release. Arriving police saw a gray BMW leaving the house and fleeing at a high rate of speed. Police were told the driver had taken a female at gunpoint, struck her in the head with a gun and had her in the car with him.

The man refused to stop for pursing police, the release said. He hit another vehicle and was weaving into oncoming traffic and passed a school bus stopped to let children out. Police lost sight of the vehicle, but it was located in a small residential neighborhood on Pine Ridge Road. The man had fled on foot but was apprehended; he did not have a weapon on him.

Police find victim nearby

The female was found on a nearby street and had injuries consistent with having been struck in the head with a blunt object, the release said. There was no information from police about her condition.

Police said the man had forcibly entered the East Falmouth house and fired a gun at a female but missed her, the release said. He held four people at gunpoint inside the house and took their cellphones to prevent them from calling for help. When the female attempted to flee, police said, he pursued her and forced her into the vehicle, which led to the police chase.

The investigation remains active and other charges may be pending, the release stated. No further information is available at this time.
